If you own a New Zealand built boat from the early 2000s, there is a good chance the solar vent in your deck is an Intersolar or Sol-A-Vent. They went into the Genesis range, the Vindex range, the Formulas and most of the Kiwi production boats of that era. Twenty years on, the fans give up and the seals go, and the original brands are long gone.
The VE15SS is the replacement. It uses the same 120mm deck cutout as the originals, so in almost every case you lift the old unit out and the new one goes straight back into the same hole. No cutting, no filling, no re-drilling a deck you would rather not put another hole in.
Above deck it is a 215mm marine grade stainless steel top that holds its finish in salt air. The solar panel drives the fan whenever there is daylight on it, moving air through the cabin all day while the boat sits on the mooring or under a cover on the hardstand. That constant air change is what keeps squabs, carpet and headlining from going mouldy over a wet winter, and it is the cheapest insurance you can buy for a cabin interior.
There is no wiring and no connection to the boat's electrical system. It runs on its own, on days you are nowhere near the boat.
