Sand anchors have high holding power in sand and mud for their comparatively light weight.
The following is a general guide for sizing sand (Danforth style) anchors using their model designation and suggested vessel size. Please note that holding power is affected by the size and length of chain used and the prevailing conditions.

4S 4.5m, 15ft

8S 7.6m, 25ft
10S 8.2m, 27ft
13S 9m, 30ft
16S 10m, 33ft
All anchors are galvanised.
